About Us
We’re Jami and Maddie, and we first worked together as the founding People team for the startup Levelset in 2018. We spent several years creating a resilient and meaningful culture that focused on finding and amplifying “bright spots” in the business. It wasn’t always easy, and it certainly wasn’t perfect, but we were united by a mission and a sense of purpose that fostered care for every team member. When Levelset was acquired in 2021, one of the largest construction tech acquisitions in history, we weren’t ready to stop working together on what we’re passionate about: creating people-first company cultures.
We’ve since worked together at various companies, from 15 employees to almost 5,000, and have witnessed firsthand the stark differences in organizational cultures. We saw how some companies thrived by investing in their people, while others struggled due to a lack of care. One particular experience with a company that ultimately failed highlighted the critical need for a people-first strategy, and inspired us to start our own consulting firm in 2024.
We’ve seen the benefits of a people-first strategy: higher employee satisfaction, increased retention, and overall business success. And while real life is certainly messier than words on a screen, a people-first strategy is simply caring about your people, being thoughtful in your approach, and seeing your team members as whole humans, not just employees.
We believe that most organizations can benefit from our method, from startups to publicly traded companies, and that focusing on identifying and amplifying what’s working well (a.k.a. the “bright spots”), you can transform any organization for the better. We’re here to help you get started.

Hi, I'm Jami. I'm an HR and People Operations professional passionate about building organizations employees love to work for. I have more than a decade of experience in everything that touches an employee's lifecycle, from when they apply for a job until their last day at work. I'm on a mission to make that employee experience brighter for everyone.

Madeline Chizmar
Most people just call me Maddie! I’m originally from New Orleans, and currently live in Dallas, TX with my husband and daughter. I’ve been in HR and People Ops for over 6 years, and have worked in construction tech for over 10.
My favorite part of what I do is making really messy, complex, boring, or frankly annoying HR topics simple and refreshing. (See: I like to use Muppets to explain health insurance plans.) Outside of work I’m usually reading or figuring out how to keep my toddler entertianed.
